Movie Review :: The Strangers

I love scary movies. I love them even though I close my eyes a lot. I closed my eyes A LOT during this one! As soon as I saw the preview for this movie, I knew I was going to love it - and I did. It's an incredibly simple movie, which I think makes it scarier. Those masks are incredibly creepy and I may be having nightmares about them for a while. It is exactly what it is. There are no surprises or plot twists happening here, just scariness and creepiness.

Nate and I both give this move 8 out of 10, which is pretty good for a horror film.

Look At Our Cute House!

This is our first spring owning a home. When we moved in last fall we planted some tulips (which we have never done before due to being renters). Well, they are here! It looks SO cute! There are also some other things that are coming up that we did not plant, like peonies. It's very exciting to watch things start to bloom and make our house look super cute!

We really like these spikey tulip things:

The Most Exciting Package....EVER!

Yesterday the doorbell rang and we assumed that, like always, it was UPS delivering us something from our lab. When I went out to get the box, I noticed it was not from our lab. Oh boy, when we opened that box up, we were SO excited! It was a giant box of delicious chocolate covered pretzels from Chrissy, Rob & Bailey the dog! They wanted to thank us for Baileys photo shoot last week. There is nothing in life we love more than delicious treats - and such a surprise!

Thanks so much you guys, your the best!

Bathroom Redo and Strange Basement Occurance

We have been redoing our main bathroom (tiny, yes I know) over the last week. It's odd how just painting a bathroom turns into so much more. It was boringville before. Grey and white does not do it for me. It needed color. We love color. So we painted, replaced the horrible old medicine cabinet, removed a shelf, redid the molding and hung a photo piece.

And, an interesting basement story. So, there were these horrible mirrors hanging up on one entire wall of our basement. They had to go so Nate took them down. Now, we knew that our basement had paneled walls, but much to our surprise, this is what we found:

Close-up:
Now, thats not wallpaper or painted. It's actually whats printed on the paneling! I had no idea this existed and I think it probably should have never have.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! We had a wonderful time last night on NYE photographing the awesome wedding of Sara + Nate, to be blogged later.

So, we have been in our new house for about 2 months now and since we are pretty much snowed in today, I finally got around to snapping off a few shots to show off!

My brand new, stainless steel and granite kitchen!

It's My Birthday!

Today is my birthday. I think I will take the day off to decorate for Christmas. I love Christmas and Christmas decorations. My family is taking me out for dinner to the California Pizza Kitchen (yummmm, I love that place). Anyway, today I am 28. That seems old. At least Nate is older!

Happy Anniversary To US!!

Tomorrow (Monday) is our first anniversary! Yay! I cannot believe it has already been a year. When people tell you that it flies by, they are not kidding. In honor of our special day, we will be out of the office on Monday. I thought I would repost some of my favorite wedding photos (shot by Brooks + Leighanne Whittington of Dallas TX). You can click on the images to make them bigger.

I love this shot of my eyes - notice the glasses? I wore mine since I do everyday of my life. I recommend all you glasses wearers out there do the same.
I dont know what, but I thought something was really funny:
I love color. More specifically, I love pink. Pink dress + pink tights + pink shoes = total funness:
Dress fluffing:
Nate gets dressed:
Nate had the coolest Nikes for the wedding, they matched our colors perfectly and he actually got to be comfortable:
I love this shots of three Nates:
This is me coming to see Nate for the first time before the ceremony. It is probably our favorite shot of the day.
Seeing each other for the first time before the ceremony:
I dont noramlly take bridal shots or like them, but I vainly love this shot of me!
We made cardboard cutouts of our animals since no one would let them come. Some of you may have seen them hanging out at our office:
Smashing the glass:
First dance:
This is what dinner at our house normally looks like, begging animals:
Cake is the best part of any wedding, I still dream fondly of ours:
My dad "air fiddling":
End of the night shot in the elevator:
Our programs:
Ceremony arrangements:
We had 2 different centerpeices - this is the pink one, snapdragons and candles. We had a friend make all of the cement base tiles for each centerpeice:
The green one is orchids, wheat grass and candles:
My bouquet rocked! It had brown flowers!:
Toasting flutes featuring Marge & Homer Simpson:
Cake display. We love cake and wanted ours to be a highlite:
Here you can watch an awesome Wedding Day Recap that Kristyn from Castle Video put together for us of our wedding day! Please pardon Nates shirtlessness in the beginning.

video

Our flowers were all done by Emerald City and the cake was Zingermans. Our DJ was the wonderful and charming, Mary Ann Ross. We had Kristyn from Castle Video and Miriam at the Wedding Connection was our fabulous officiant.

In Memory of My Friend

It's been a very sad week here for us. On Monday Murphy the dog passed away. She is my families dog and I have known her since was a tiny puppy. She was one of my best friends and was so much more than just a family pet. I am going to miss her tremendously. Her loss was unexpected and devastating. Here she is last Christmas enjoying one of her many holiday bandanna's.

We'll all miss you girl.

Partay!

Every year The Knot has a swanky party for all of it's advertisers, and last night was this years party. It was pretty awesome! They had tons of delicious food, CUPCAKES and drinks. It was at 30 North which is a cool place.

This year they had these spectacular photo booths by a new company called Shutter Booth. They rent out these photo booths for parties and weddings. The strips print out in like 30 seconds, they give the bride & groom a disc of all the photos at the end of the night and the coolest thing is that all of the photos get posted online! This is the coolest wedding favor you could have! Here are our photos from last night:
